H1B Approval count
As per the INS latest news, as of May-23-2001, the INS had approved 117,000 cases and 40,000 cases are in process. The total number of available visas are 195,000 for this fiscal year (2000-2001). Due to US economy downturn, the number of H1B filing was reduced for the past 4 months. There are more chances for the availability of new H1B visas, subject to cap, until end of this fiscal year.
