Yes, we are brothers and Sisters. Let us not forget that America is a nation of immigrants. President Bush and the U.S. Senate, among others, reminding the public that it is wrong to stereotype and target Arab-Americans and Muslims in the U.S., and that no ethnic group is more "American" than any other.

The INS has tightened up both security and scrutiny at its borders and ports of entry. All the VISA applications at US consulates will be thouroughly verified with INS records for previous entries and exit details (if any). Also they will verify all the related documents which may delay the stamping process. More questions may raise for visitor visas.

H1B applicants are requested to keep all the papers while stamping as well as at the port of entry. It is immaterial whether you are entering first time or NOT. Be prepared to answer any questions related to your employment or employer. Definitely there should NOT be any problem if you keep all the documents properly. If you are an H1B holder planning to go abroad for a vacation, it is advisable to keep your latest paystub, H1B approval notice and letter from your employer stating that you are the employee of that company, going abroad for vacation for the specified dates. Please contact your attorney and make sure that you will NOT be having any problems with re-entry based on your current status.

There may be some slowdown in INS processing. This is due to the INS audit of its adjudications operations, which runs through October. During this audit, processing times for all visa types may increase. Because of the recent attack, the INS may also do more verification to student and training visas, to make sure all the information of the sponsoring company and the candidate are correct.

The Nimda worm -- reports of which first began flooding into mailing lists and security firms on Sept. 18 -- is a mass-mailed piece of malicious code that infects systems running Microsoft Corp.'s Windows 95, 98, ME, NT and 2000.

Nimda propagates via various means, including modifying Web content on vulnerable systems running Microsoft's Internet Information Server software
