H1B Process

H1B visa category allows foreign speciality workers to work in a speciality occupation in the U.S. for a temporary period of three years and it can be extended up to six years

Speciality occupation is specified as the JOB should require minimum of a bachelor degree or higher degree and related experience to perform the duties of the job.

H1B visas can be obtained for any Professionals. But in general more number of VISAs are issued to Software professionals ( ~40 % )

The number of H-1B Visas for the fiscal year 2001 is 195,500. ( As per the current law )
